IDI Composites International, the premier global formulator and manufacturer of thermoset molding compounds, announces that its Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) and Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) have been selected by Topp Industries for several wastewater treatment applications.

Topp Industries is a leading manufacturer of lift stations, which are used to help transport liquid wastewater from homes and businesses to treatment plants. IDI’s composite materials were chosen for their excellent resistance to corrosion, chemicals, and atmospheric conditions, which enable Topp lift stations to last longer than traditional stations made of steel and concrete. Components such as manway flanges and top and bottom cover plate materials are now less likely to crack or fracture when exposed to natural elements.

IDI’s thermoset composite parts are also developed by using a closed molding process, which is much more environmentally friendly than standard open composite manufacturing processes and also turns out finished parts in just minutes. This process significantly reduces Topp’s manufacturing cycle times and labor requirements.
