The son of a systems analyst employed by IDI Composites, Nick Justice, 18, is the recipient of a scholarship to Purdue University financed by the John K. and Verna L. Merrell Scholarship Fund. The fund was established a decade ago in honor of IDI’s founder and his wife, who graduated from Purdue and also met there. Ranked tenth in a class of 90 at Frankton High School with a grade point average of 3.78, Justice was a member of the National Honor Society and was inducted into his school’s Academic Hall of Fame. In addition, Justice participated in football, baseball, basketball, cross-country, and track. Nick is the son of Denny and Jeanne Justice. Justice plans to study engineering at Purdue. The Merrell fund will provide $2,000 for his freshman year and $1,000 for each of his remaining years at Purdue if he continues to meet all of the scholarship’s requirements, which include maintaining a minimum grade point average of 2.65 on a 4.0 scale. Justice has also received a scholarship from the Purdue Alumni Association.
The Merrell fund was established to provide scholarships to children of IDI employees. There are two scholarships available each year. If no children of IDI employees apply in a given year, the scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors of Noblesville High School.
