Fuel Cell Energy

Materials in Fuel Cells Must Be Durable, Stable, and Chemical Resistant

Fuel cells generate ultra-clean electric power and heat without combustion and are increasing in popularity, powering factories, universities, and even automobiles. While combining hydrogen fuel with oxygen to produce electric power, fuel cells generate considerable heat and require structural composite materials with superior properties.

Fuel cells require very durable materials, as the high temperatures and corrosive fluids in the chemical process often accelerate component breakdown and corrosion, decreasing fuel cell lifespan.

Thermoset composites for fuel cell energy are corrosion-resistant, enabling extended component life. They are also temperature resistant and have excellent strength-to-weight ratios and dielectric strength. Thermoset composites are also inert by their nature, and are known to protect fuel and discharge streams from contamination.
